Fertile Meat Market opened with a display case, a sharpening stone, and a slogan written by a man who should have been supervised. The steaks were excellent. The lettering attracted a crowd. By Saturday the butcher had explained sausage casing to half the county.
Customers insist they are only here for the thick cuts. The staff has chosen to believe them. Saturday samples are served with toothpicks, sensible portions, and an increasingly strict policy about remarks near the bratwurst. The suggestion box has been moved out of public view.
This market takes real pride in a proper trim and a generous package. Wear its shirt to the next cookout and let someone else volunteer to read it aloud. Meat sold separately. So is maturity.
