Regulars come in for one washer and leave with three tools, a weekend project, and a detailed account of why the neighbor’s deck is wrong. The man at the counter can identify any bolt by feel. Nobody knows whether he is an employee. He has simply been there too long to ask.
The store’s slogan committee meets beside the nuts and bolts, which explains several decisions. Wear the tee when you want helpful strangers to discuss your equipment. Returns require a receipt. Unsolicited advice is yours forever.
